# What is the Woosmap for what3words API



The Woosmap for what3words API allows you to benefit from the combined power of what3words and the Woosmap Localities
service.

## What is what3words?

[what3words](https://what3words.com) is a free technology that allows you to communicate location easily. The world has been divided into 3 x 3 m
squares, and each one has been given a combination of 3 random words, a what3words address. For example,
`///filled.count.soap` is the entrance to the what3words head office in London.

## How to find your what3words address

Open the what3words app. Tap the arrow icon above the satellite mode, to find your current location.
The what3words address will display at the top of your screen
Please wait for the blue dot to stabilise to ensure you have the most accurate what3words address. The location accuracy
is dependent on your device’s GPS signal, which can be imprecise and constantly updating. It will be more accurate when
you are outside with a clear view of the sky.

## How can customers find their what3words address?

Many people already know the what3words address of their front door, so are ready to enter it, just like a street
address.
Anyone can find a what3words address via the online map at what3words.com or the free what3words app. They should first
search their street address, then select the exact 3m square of their delivery location – often a specific entrance, or
safe place like a garden shed.

## What is Woosmap for what3words API?

This API is a drop in replacement of what3words API but hosted on Woosmap Platform, with
the addition of an endpoint leveraging the power of [Localities API](/products/localities/overview/) to convert a
what3words address into a street
address, bringing address level accuracy to what3words.

## Use Cases

Easily get postal addresses for 3 word addresses, convert coordinates to 3 word addresses.
In addition, it features a powerful AutoSuggest function, which can validate and autocorrect user input and
limit it to certain geographic areas.
